Research on the Correlation Between Temperature and Humidity and Skin

Dr. Hsiu-Mei Chiang(江秀梅), Professor and Chairman, Department of Cosmeceutics, China Medical University

Taiwan is located at the junction of the tropics and subtropics, with rain all year round and hot temperatures, and the skin is the largest organ of the human body, as a line of first defense against changes and stimuli in the external environment to maintain the stability of the skin, so it is necessary to understand the relationship between environmental changes and the skin barrier. A literature search has shown that changes in ambient humidity can lead to seasonal deterioration of skin barrier imbalances, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and rosacea dermatitis, as well as skin hydration, sebum secretion, transepidermal water dispersion loss and skin pH However, there is no research on humid tropical climate and skin parameters in Taiwan, and the skin research data of the same summer rain type warm and humid areas can be used to infer the possible skin conditions of Taiwanese people, so as to understand the skin care methods suitable for high temperature and high humidity environments.

A New Transformative Skincare Solution

Dr. Chih-Chiang Chen (陳志強), Director, Department of Dermatology, Taipei Veterans General Hospital

In hot and humid climates, the temperature and humidity are not the most suitable for human habitation, and the skin is more likely to suffer from conditions such as oiliness, sweating, sensitivity, dullness, or photoaging due to sun exposure.
Mainstream skincare solutions are designed for temperate climates, and people in hot and humid climates may not benefit from them. The climate is different, and the skincare solution should also be redesigned.

Why Microneedle Patches Are an Effective Skincare Tool?

Dr. Ta-Jo Liu (劉大佼), Chairman and Founder,  Win Coat Corporation (WCC)

The sensitive skin problems caused by the humid and hot climate that are different from the temperate climate, microneedle patches have the advantages and innovative technology WINMAPTM to be applied in the penetrating products tailored for humid and hot climates, and use clinical scientific human trials to prove the significant changes that after using the product, the skin turned from 2D to 3D and also restored the youthful brilliance, so that the concept of scientific technology can be further expanded and deeply rooted in the lives of mass consumers.

The Latest Developments in Sensory Testing of Skin Care Products in Tropical Climates

Andrew Chen (陳彥如), General Manager, iCharmi International CO., LTD.

Cosmetics are products that are applied to the outside of the human body and have moisturizing and cleansing functions on the skin. In addition to the efficacy of the product, the texture and sensory feeling of the product are also one of the important considerations for consumers to buy goods. Taiwan's climate is characterized by hot and humid. Compared with the development of temperate climate of international brands, there are obvious differences, so consumers' requirements for the texture of products are relatively different. In the course, Taiwanese skin test testers are used as the evaluation criteria, and the two stages of professional sensory test evaluation and consumer sensory test evaluation are introduced, hoping to set up a set of sensory test methods suitable for cosmetics in hot climates and apply them to the development of cosmetics products in hot climates.
